Hallstatt Evangelical Church
The Evangelical Church of Christ (Christuskirche) is the most famous building in Hallstatt appearing in every photo and postcard of the town. Built in 1863 after Emperor Franz Joseph I granted full equality to the Protestant faith. Its Neo-Gothic pointed spire rising above the lake has become the iconic symbol of Hallstatt. Visitors can enter free and admire the simple elegant interior architecture. The church hosts cultural concerts throughout the year especially during summer months. Its lakeside location makes it one of the most photographed churches in the world
