Hala Sultan Tekke
Hala Sultan Tekke is one of the most important Islamic shrines in the world, located on the western shore of Larnaca Salt Lake. The complex houses the tomb of Umm Haram, the aunt of Prophet Muhammad, who fell from her mule and died here during the Arab invasion of Cyprus in 649 AD. It is considered the fourth holiest site in Islam after Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem. The current mosque was built in 1816 and features beautiful gardens, arcaded verandas, and an elegant minaret. The peaceful setting by the lake creates a serene atmosphere for visitors of all faiths.
