Hakone Shrine
Hakone Shrine is one of the most important Shinto shrines in the Kanto region, famous for its red torii gate standing in the waters of Lake Ashi. Built in 757, the shrine is nestled within an ancient cedar forest on the lakeside. The 'Peace Torii' was erected in 1952 to commemorate the peace treaty. This scene is among Japan's most photographed views.
