Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum
Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum is a 15th-century architectural masterpiece housing the remains of the great conqueror Timur (Tamerlane) and his descendants. The ribbed dome covered in turquoise-blue tiles reaches 34 meters high and stands as one of the finest examples of Timurid architecture. The complex contains the tombs of Timur's sons Shah Rukh and Miran Shah, and grandsons Ulugh Beg and Muhammad Sultan. The interior decoration is stunning with gold, lapis lazuli, and carved marble. This mausoleum influenced the design of the Taj Mahal and other famous Islamic tombs worldwide.
