Grand Bazaar

Grand Bazaar is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world. 60 streets, over 4000 shops, 500 years of history. Gold and carpets, leather and spices, antiques and fakes are sold here.

History

The bazaar was founded after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453. By the 17th century it became the empire's largest trading center. Goods were brought from across the East: Persian carpets, Indian spices, Chinese silk.
