Gorner Glacier
The second longest glacier in the Alps at 12.5 km, flowing down from the Monte Rosa massif. This impressive glacier can be seen from Gornergrat station and along the trails to Riffelsee. The glacier is the source of the Gornera river which carved the Gorner Gorge. Though retreating due to climate change, it remains a stunning natural wonder and important to the local ecosystem. The glacier collects water from several smaller glaciers in the region.
