Gate of Dawn
The Gate of Dawn is the only surviving gate of the original 16th-century Vilnius city walls. Its upper floor houses a chapel containing the famous icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, believed to possess miraculous powers, attracting thousands of pilgrims from Lithuania and Poland every year. The icon is covered with a 17th-century silver and gold riza that reveals only the face and hands. The street below the gate is one of the oldest in the city, lined with churches, monasteries, and historic buildings, creating a unique sacred corridor that transports visitors back centuries
