Galway Cathedral
Galway Cathedral is the largest and most recent stone cathedral in Ireland, opened in 1965. Built in Romanesque style, it features a massive dome and magnificent stained glass windows. The cathedral is dedicated to Our Lady Assumed into Heaven and St. Nicholas, as well as Irish saints. Located on Nun's Island by the River Corrib, its interior is majestic with marble columns and religious artwork. It remains an active place of worship and hosts concerts and events throughout the year.
