Fortaleza Ozama
Fortaleza Ozama is the oldest military fortress in the Americas, built between 1502 and 1507. Located at the mouth of the Ozama River, it defended Santo Domingo from invaders. The complex features the historic Tower of Homage, massive defensive walls, and panoramic views of the river and city. It served as a prison during the Trujillo dictatorship and now contains a small museum about military history.
