Best photo time is golden hour before sunset or early morning without crowds. The building is beautifully lit at night. Looks good any season, but especially autumn with yellow trees in the park.

What to Expect

External viewing only — building is closed to visitors. Best views from the sidewalk across the street or Madison Square Park. The triangular shape creates an interesting illusion — from certain angles it appears completely flat. Height is 87 meters, 22 floors.

faq.subtitle Flatiron Building

The triangular shape was dictated by the land plot — the building occupies a narrow wedge-shaped lot where Broadway and 5th Avenue converge at a sharp angle. Architect Daniel Burnham maximized the available space.
