Federal Palace (Bundeshaus)

The Federal Palace (Bundeshaus) is the seat of the Swiss Federal Assembly and Federal Council - Switzerland parliament and government. Built between 1894-1902 in Florentine Renaissance style, the impressive building features a grand dome, symbolic sculptures representing Swiss democracy, and the famous Foucault pendulum in the Hall of the Dome. The Bundesplatz in front hosts a spectacular fountain show in summer.

Yes, free guided tours are available when parliament is not in session. Tours must be booked online at least 3 days in advance. You will need valid ID for the security check.

The Bundesplatz features 26 water jets representing Switzerland 26 cantons. In summer, there is a spectacular light and water show in the evenings. During winter, the square hosts a Christmas market and ice rink.
