Faro Cathedral
Faro Cathedral is one of the oldest and most important religious landmarks in the Algarve, dating back to the 13th century. Built on the ruins of a Moorish mosque, it blends Gothic, Baroque, and Renaissance styles in a unique architectural design. The interior houses hand-painted Portuguese tiles and a magnificent gilded wooden altar. The main attraction is the bell tower, offering breathtaking panoramic views over the Old Town, Ria Formosa Natural Park, and the offshore islands. Climbing the approximately sixty steps rewards you with one of the best vistas in southern Portugal.
