Etretat Cliffs
Iconic chalk cliffs on the English Channel coast of Normandy, rising 70-90 meters above sea level. Home to legendary rock formations: the iconic Porte d'Aval arch painted by Monet; the 51-meter tall freestanding rock spire L'Aiguille that inspired Maurice Leblanc's Arsene Lupin novel; the Porte d'Amont arch that Maupassant compared to an elephant dipping its trunk into the sea; and the massive 90-meter wide Manneporte arch accessible on foot at low tide. The cliffs are freely accessible around the clock with no entrance fee. Nearby attractions include the Jardins d'Etretat contemporary art gardens on the clifftop above Porte d'Amont, the Arsene Lupin museum, and the Chapelle Notre-Dame de la Garde
