Engyoji Temple sits atop Mount Shosha, a Buddhist temple founded in 966. It gained international fame as a filming location for 'The Last Samurai'. The three main halls (Mitsunodo) house historic temples featuring beautiful architecture and serene atmosphere. The summit is reached via ropeway then a 20-minute walk through sacred forest. Note: Ropeway closed for maintenance February 5 to March 18, 2026.
