Eger Minaret
The northernmost Ottoman minaret in Europe, standing 40 meters tall, built around 1596 during Turkish occupation. Originally part of the Kethuda Mosque demolished in 1841, locals tried to pull it down with 400 oxen after the Ottomans were expelled but it stood firm. The top features a unique symbol: a cross emerging from a crescent moon, combining Islamic and Christian heritage. Considered the best-preserved Ottoman minaret in Hungary, 97 narrow spiral steps lead to a viewing balcony at 26 meters offering panoramic views of the castle, basilica, and old town
