East Mebon
East Mebon is a 10th-century Hindu temple built on an artificial island in the middle of the East Baray, a vast water reservoir that is now dry. Constructed by King Rajendravarman II to honor his parents. It features life-sized stone elephant statues at its lower corners and guardian lions on the stairways. The five towers represent Mount Meru and showcase intricate brick and sandstone craftsmanship. When filled with water, the temple appeared to float, creating a dramatic visual effect.
