The Eagle Pub
The Eagle is a historic 16th-century pub famous as the site where Francis Crick and James Watson reportedly announced their discovery of the DNA structure on February 28, 1953. Crick famously declared 'We have discovered the secret of life'. A blue plaque commemorates this historic moment. The pub also features the 'RAF Bar' with a ceiling covered in soot signatures from WWII pilots. It serves traditional British pub food and the commemorative 'Eagle's DNA' ale.
