Dobo Square
The beating heart of Eger, this baroque square was fully renovated in 2014 and serves as the central gathering point of the city. It is dominated by the heroic statue group by sculptor Alajos Strobl unveiled in 1907, depicting Captain Istvan Dobo holding his sword high alongside warriors and a woman throwing stones at Ottoman forces, commemorating the legendary 1552 defense. Surrounded by some of Hungary's finest baroque architecture including the stunning Minorite Church, the square has a Mediterranean atmosphere in summer with outdoor restaurants and cultural events
