Diocletian's Palace
Diocletian's Palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the living heart of Split's Old Town. Built in the 4th century AD as a retirement residence for Roman Emperor Diocletian, it ranks among the best-preserved Roman monuments worldwide. The palace spans 30,000 square meters and contains over 200 buildings within its walls, where approximately 3,000 people live and work today. The central Peristyle square features original Egyptian granite columns. Inside you will find the Cathedral of Saint Domnius, Temple of Jupiter, and Roman cellars that served as filming locations for Game of Thrones. Restaurants, cafes, and shops fill the ancient alleyways, making it one of Europe's most vibrant archaeological sites where Roman heritage and modern life seamlessly intertwine
