The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, known as the 'Toy Train', is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Built 1879-1881 with 610mm gauge, it runs 88 km from New Jalpaiguri to Darjeeling, climbing from 100m to 2,200m using 6 zigzags and 3 loops. Famous for stunning Himalayan views and Ghum, the highest railway station.
