Darat al-Funun
Darat al-Funun is a leading cultural institution founded in 1988 by Suha Shoman as a 'home for the arts'. Located on a hill overlooking downtown Amman, it occupies three historical 1920s villas built in Mediterranean-Venetian style. The complex houses contemporary art galleries, artist residency spaces, a library, cafe, and beautiful gardens with panoramic city views. In the southern garden lie ruins of a 6th-century Byzantine church and an ancient cave. Darat al-Funun has become a meeting place for artists and a hub for artistic practices, criticism and research. Currently hosting 'In That Same Hour' exhibition (until May 2026) exploring solidarity and resistance in Gaza context.
