Ciqikou is an ancient trading town from the Song Dynasty (founded 998 AD), preserving one-third of its historical architecture. A former major river port on the Jialing River. Narrow stone streets, traditional teahouses, Baolun Temple, and hundreds of shops with souvenirs and street food.
Free admission to the town. Baolun Temple and Zhong's Compound: 5 CNY each.
Metro Line 1 or 6 to Ciqikou Station (磁器口站). 5 min walk from exit to main entrance. Also buses 202, 220, 224, 237, 261, 467, 503, 808, 843.
Town is open 24/7. Shops typically operate 9:00 AM - 10:00 PM.

3-5 hours for full exploration with food and temple. Arrive around 3-4 PM to walk during daylight and stay for sunset. Very atmospheric in the evening.
Useful tips for visiting Ciqikou Ancient Town
Main street is very crowded. Turn into side alleys — quieter, more authentic, and you can find interesting workshops.
Wear comfortable shoes! Streets are paved with stone and steps. Very hot and humid in summer — bring water and a fan.
Don't miss Baolun Temple (宝轮寺) — ancient Buddhist temple from the 14th century. Entry 5 CNY but worth the atmosphere.
Chen Mahua (陈麻花) is Ciqikou's signature snack — crispy fried twisted dough. Huge queues at famous shops, but available at lesser-known stalls too.
