Church of St Donatus
The Church of St Donatus is one of the finest preserved examples of pre-Romanesque architecture in Europe and an iconic symbol of Zadar. Built in the 9th century with a circular plan rising 27 meters, it features distinctive Byzantine architecture. No longer used for religious services for centuries, it now functions as a cultural monument and concert hall hosting the renowned Musical Evenings of St Donatus festival featuring medieval and Renaissance music with exceptional acoustics. Admission is EUR 3.50. The church may be closed in winter from late December to late March, so check with the tourist office for off-season visits. Its location right beside the Roman Forum makes it a natural pairing for historical exploration
