Located in central Yaroslavl on Sovetskaya Square. From Yaroslavl-Glavny railway station — trolleybuses 1, 5, 9 or buses to 'Volkova Square' or 'Bogoyavlenskaya Square' stop, then 5 minutes walk. From bus station — 15 minutes walk through center.

Useful tips for visiting Church of Elijah the Prophet

Church open May to October only - closed in winter to preserve frescoes. Frescoes best viewed in morning light. Church depicted on 1000 ruble banknote. Photography prohibited inside.

Church on Sovetskaya Square in Yaroslavl center. 5 minute walk from Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery. Pedestrian Kirov Street nearby with cafes and shops. Convenient to combine with embankment sightseeing.

17th century frescoes by Gury Nikitin and Sila Savin cover all walls. Tent-roofed bell tower is rare architecture example. Tiled window frames are unique detail. 17th century iconostasis fully preserved.
