Chellah Necropolis
Chellah is a unique archaeological site combining Roman ruins from the 3rd century BC with Marinid tombs from the 14th century. Originally a Phoenician then Roman settlement called Sala Colonia, it later became a royal Marinid necropolis. Today it captivates with its romantic atmosphere where ruins intertwine with wild fig trees and storks nest on ancient minarets. Over 100 bird species inhabit the site. In 2025, multilingual interpretive panels and audio guides were added to enhance the visitor experience.
