Chauk Htat Gyi Reclining Buddha
Chauk Htat Gyi is a massive 65-meter reclining Buddha statue housed in an open-sided shed. It features elaborately detailed glass eyes, painted lips, and intricately carved foot soles depicting 108 auspicious characteristics of Buddha. The statue represents Buddha in a resting position rather than entering Nirvana. A short walk away stands the five-story-tall seated Nga Htat Gyi Buddha statue. The open-sided hall allows excellent natural light photography in the morning. Less crowded than Shwedagon, it offers an intimate encounter with monumental Buddhist art
