Chateau de Chillon
An enchanting medieval castle perched on a rocky island in Lake Geneva for over a thousand years. This fortress inspired English poet Lord Byron to write his famous poem 'The Prisoner of Chillon' in 1816 after visiting its dungeons. The castle comprises 25 buildings surrounded by two defensive walls, featuring medieval halls, historic prison vaults, and rooms adorned with period frescoes. Its views over the lake and Swiss Alps are breathtaking. One of Switzerland's most visited monuments, the castle offers an immersive journey through centuries of European history.
