Château d'Azay-le-Rideau
Château d'Azay-le-Rideau sits on an island in the Indre River, creating enchanting reflections in the water. Built between 1518 and 1527, it is considered a masterpiece of early French Renaissance architecture. Balzac described it as 'a faceted diamond, set in the Indre'. The relatively small castle features perfect proportions with a unique open staircase and beautifully restored interiors. The English-style park offers lovely views of the castle from every angle.
