Charles Darwin Research Station
The Charles Darwin Research Station has been the center of Galapagos conservation and scientific research since 1964. Visitors can see the giant tortoise breeding program that has saved several species from extinction, including the former home of legendary 'Lonesome George' tortoise. The natural history interpretation center offers interactive exhibits on evolution, geology, and conservation. Self-guided tours take 1-2 hours along shaded paths through breeding facilities and land iguana exhibits.
