Chapel Bridge
Chapel Bridge is the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe and Lucerne's most famous landmark. Built in the 14th century as part of the city's fortifications, it spans 205 meters across the Reuss River. The bridge features 67 triangular gable paintings from the 17th century depicting scenes from Lucerne and Swiss history. In 1993, the bridge was severely damaged by fire but was lovingly restored. Walking across the bridge offers unforgettable views of the Old Town and surrounding mountains.
