Morro Castle
Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro, simply known as Morro Castle, is a fortress guarding the entrance to Havana harbor. Built between 1589 and 1630, it is one of the oldest fortresses in the Americas. The castle stands on a rocky promontory known as El Morro, and throughout its history has defended Havana against the French, Dutch, and British. The lighthouse crowning its tower was added in 1844. Today the castle houses the Maritime Museum and is part of the Morro-Cabaña Military Historical Park. It offers spectacular panoramic views of Havana's skyline and the ocean.
