St. Mark's Campanile
St. Mark's Campanile is the tallest building in Venice (98.6 meters) and an iconic symbol of the city. The original was built in the 9th century as a lighthouse for ships, collapsed in 1902, and was rebuilt identically in 1912. The elevator provides 360-degree views of Venice, the lagoon, and the Alps on clear days. Galileo demonstrated his telescope here in 1609.
