Cairns Esplanade Lagoon
The Esplanade Lagoon is a stunning, free public swimming pool spanning 4,800 square meters along Cairns' waterfront. Since the ocean in Cairns is unsuitable for swimming due to jellyfish and crocodiles, this lagoon provides a safe, free alternative for locals and visitors alike. The filtered salt water at 81-152cm depth is ideal for families and swimmers of all abilities. Lifeguards patrol daily from 6am-9pm, and the area features free BBQ facilities, shaded picnic areas, and beautiful views across the inlet. A true tropical oasis in the heart of the city.
