Broken Chair
The Broken Chair is a monumental 12-meter-tall, 5.5-ton wooden sculpture standing in front of the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. Created by Swiss artist Daniel Berset in 1997 for Handicap International, it symbolizes opposition to landmines and cluster bombs. The three-legged chair represents human dignity despite disability. It has become a global symbol of peace and human rights, facing the Palais des Nations.
