Brandenburg Gate Kaliningrad
Brandenburg Gate in Kaliningrad is the only historic city gate still used for active vehicle traffic — cars and trams pass through it daily. Originally built in wood in 1657, it was rebuilt in brick in 1843 in neo-Gothic style under King Frederick II. Inside the gate houses the Marzipan Museum showcasing the history of famous Konigsberg marzipan with antique molds, historic packaging, and marzipan replicas of architectural monuments. Entry is free and the museum shop sells authentic Konigsberg-style marzipan as souvenirs. This gate is completely unrelated to Berlin's Brandenburg Gate — it was named after the road to the historic castle of Brandenburg, now the village of Ushakovo
