Botahtaung Pagoda
Botahtaung Pagoda is unique for its hollow interior where visitors walk through a golden, mirror-lined passageway with glass cases displaying sacred relics. Completely destroyed by Allied bombing in 1943 during WWII, it was rebuilt in 1948. During reconstruction, sacred hair relics of Buddha were discovered. Located on the Yangon River bank, it offers beautiful sunset views. The name means '1,000 military leaders' referring to officers who received the sacred relics from India over 2,000 years ago. The golden mirrored corridor creates a mesmerizing experience unlike any other pagoda in Myanmar
