Blyde River Canyon
Blyde River Canyon is the third-largest canyon in the world and the largest green canyon on Earth, stretching 26 kilometers with depths reaching 800 meters. Located on the famous Panorama Route near Kruger National Park, it's one of South Africa's most spectacular natural wonders. The canyon features remarkable rock formations including the Three Rondavels, steep cliffs covered in dense subtropical forest, and incredibly diverse flora. Unlike most canyons, Blyde remains evergreen due to abundant rainfall, creating an exceptionally lush landscape. Visitors can enjoy multiple viewpoints, hiking trails of varying difficulty, and boat trips on Blydepoort Dam. The Motlatse Canyon Provincial Nature Reserve protects this unique ecosystem with over 1,000 plant species.
