Billionth Barrel Monument
The Billionth Barrel Monument celebrates Brunei's achievement of producing one billion barrels of crude oil on July 18, 1991. Its unique design features six arches representing six decades of oil exploration, meeting at the top where the gilded Brunei coat of arms sits. Copper panels tell the history of the oil industry. The seaside location offers views of offshore platforms and classic nodding donkey oil pumps. Sunset here is particularly stunning. A fascinating tribute to the source of Brunei's wealth.
