Bey Hamam (Paradise Baths)
Bey Hamam, also known as the 'Baths of Paradise', is the oldest and largest Ottoman bathhouse still standing in Greece. Built by Sultan Murad II in 1444 near Aristotelous Square, it underwent a 1.5 million EUR restoration and fully reopened in early 2026 for the first time in decades. Visitors can now explore original marble floors, painted floral motifs in dry fresco technique, and the women's section closed since 1968. A wooden spiral staircase connects both sections and leads to the illuminated domes. The exterior is dramatically lit in the evenings, creating a stunning visual from the square. It functions as a historical monument and cultural exhibition space, not an active bathhouse
