Ben Youssef Madrasa
Ben Youssef Madrasa is a 14th-century architectural masterpiece and was once the largest Islamic school in North Africa. Hundreds of students studied jurisprudence, philosophy, and sciences here for centuries. It features an enchanting central courtyard with a reflecting pool surrounded by arcades adorned with carved stucco, zellij mosaic tiles, and carved cedarwood. The small student cells around the courtyard tell stories of ancient academic life, while the geometric and floral decorations are an exceptional example of Moorish-Andalusian art.
