The Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls is one of Rome's four major papal basilicas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built over the tomb of the Apostle Paul, it features massive columns and a magnificent mosaic frieze depicting all popes. Destroyed by fire in 1823 and faithfully rebuilt, it retains the atmosphere of early Christianity.
