The Baptistery was built between 1316 and 1325 beneath the cathedral choir. Its centerpiece is the marble and bronze baptismal font created by Donatello, Ghiberti, and Jacopo della Quercia (1417-1431). The 15th-century vault frescoes by Vecchietta are stunning.

Morning light illuminates the frescoes best. The baptistery is small, so 15-30 minutes is sufficient. Less crowded than the cathedral.
