Bale (Valle) Village
Bale is a medieval village 15 kilometers southeast of Rovinj, a hidden gem in Istria that has not yet been overtaken by mass tourism. The village features narrow stone streets, ancient stone buildings, and an authentic medieval atmosphere. Its main landmark is the 16th-century Soardo-Bembo Palace in Gothic-Renaissance style, though it is currently closed for reconstruction. The area is renowned for premium olive oil, Malvasia and Teran wines, and Istrian truffles. August brings the Last Minute Open Jazz Festival attracting musicians from across Europe. Surrounding the village are vineyards, olive groves, and cycling routes through the Istrian countryside.
