Baksei Chamkrong is a small but elegant 10th-century pyramid temple located near the south gate of Angkor Thom. Its name means 'The Bird Who Shelters Under Its Wings,' referring to a legend of a giant bird protecting the king. Built from brick and sandstone with beautiful lintel carvings. The temple was dedicated to Shiva and once housed a golden statue of the deity. Despite its modest size, it represents a fine example of early Khmer architecture with well-preserved decorative elements.
