Athabasca Glacier
Athabasca Glacier is one of the most accessible glaciers in North America, part of the massive Columbia Icefield. The ice reaches up to 300 meters thick and is over 10,000 years old. Visitors can walk on the glacier surface via guided tours on massive Ice Explorer vehicles, or join glacier walks with specialized guides. The glacier retreats about 5 meters annually, making a visit an educational experience about climate change as well.
