Athabasca Falls
Athabasca Falls is one of the most powerful waterfalls in the Canadian Rockies, where the Athabasca River plunges through a narrow quartzite gorge. Despite its modest height of 23 meters, the force of the rushing water is breathtaking. Paved pathways and secure viewing platforms allow visitors to get close to the waterfall spray. Over thousands of years, the water has carved unique potholes and canyons into the rock. The site is open year-round, with a magical winter atmosphere when spray freezes on the surrounding rocks.
