Assumption Cathedral

How to Get There

From Vladimir railway station: buses 12, 15, 22, 25 or trolleybus 5 to Cathedral Square stop (10-15 minutes). Walk from station about 20 minutes along Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street. The cathedral is on the main city square, visible from afar. By taxi from station 5 minutes. Parking on adjacent streets.

Useful tips for visiting Assumption Cathedral

Free entry, donations welcome. Andrei Rublev's frescoes are priceless Russian art treasure. Active church - observe dress code (women cover head, no shorts for men). Best cathedral views from below, from hill base.

Vladimir is 180 km from Moscow via M7 highway. Lastochka high-speed trains take 1.5 hours. 15 minute uphill walk from station. Golden Gate main attraction is nearby.

Rublev and Chorny frescoes from 1408 are world painting masterpiece. Five golden domes visible from afar. 12th century white stone carving on facade. Princes' necropolis under cathedral preserves history.
