Arctic Circle
The Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi is the famous geographic landmark marking the southern boundary of the Arctic region at latitude 66 degrees 33 minutes north. At this unique location you can experience the midnight sun phenomenon in summer and polar night in winter. A white line painted on the ground marks the official circle for crossing and photo opportunities. The Arctic Circle Information Centre provides official crossing certificates and souvenirs. The line actually shifts slightly each year due to Earth's axial tilt changes.
