Cathedral of Archangel Michael
The only surviving church within the walls of Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin. An outstanding monument of 17th-century Russian tent-roof architecture, built between 1628 and 1631 by master builders Lavrentiy Vozoulin and Antipa. Dedicated to Archangel Michael, patron saint of the Russian military. The cathedral houses the tomb of Kuzma Minin, the national hero who organized the liberation of Moscow from Polish invaders in 1612. Daily services are held at 8:00 on weekdays and 8:30 on Sundays and holidays. Admission is free and the church preserves valuable historic icons
