Ananda Temple
Ananda Temple is one of Bagan's finest masterpieces, built in 1105 by King Kyanzittha in Mon architectural style. Four standing Buddha statues, each 9.5 meters tall, face the four cardinal directions. The architecture features cruciform corridors and windows designed to channel natural light onto the statues. The annual Ananda Festival during Pyatho full moon gathers a thousand monks for chanting ceremonies. The temple sustained damage in the 2016 earthquake and was restored with international support. It remains one of the most revered active worship sites in Bagan
